Detailed track description

This walk will immerse you in the millenary history of the city of Aosta. The itinerary is accessible to everyone, it can be easily completed in about an hour, and it is perfect for all ages. It can be done independently, but it is strongly recommended to be accompanied by a guide to discover the history of the city better. The starting point is in front of the Porta Pretoria, the entrance gate to the city dating back to 25 AD, where the Tourist Office is also located. You continue towards the Arch of Augustus, the opposite entrance to the city to the Porta Pretoria and dating back to the same period. You then pass by the Collegiate Church of Sant’Orso, the most important testimony, together with the Cathedral that will be encountered later, of the history of sacred art in the Valle d’Aosta. Then it is the turn of the central square of the city, where the Hôtel de ville, the Town Hall of Aosta, is located, to then pass to the Roman Theater, one of the most iconic monuments of the city. To finish the Cathedral, and the adjacent Cryptoporticus.
