A complex itinerary that climbs to Gran Grimod from Pila and then makes a beautiful loop that crosses the airy ridge that connects the Capanna Arno to Punta del Drinc
This hike is complete and challenging, with stunning views along the airy ridge that is moderately exposed in some places. It starts in Pila and climbs to Gran Grimond along well-marked dirt roads, a section that can be avoided by taking the Gran Grimond cable car. After passing the Lo Baoutson restaurant, you pass in front of the Grand Grimond alpage, where the actual loop begins. The loop climbs, still along a dirt road, to the 2,662-meter Capanna Arno, a bivouac located on Punta Cuis. From there, you follow the 23 ridge trail to Punta del Drinc, the second viewpoint of this itinerary. Along the entire ridge, you can admire both Mont Blanc and the peaks of the Aosta side, as well as the impressive Monte Grivola on the Cogne side. After passing the Col du Drinc, you descend along the 23b deviation to meet the Grand Grimond alpage again, where you close the loop and descend towards Pila along the ascent itinerary.
