Description:

This trek starts from the Pila-Gorraz parking lot, where you can fill up on water before starting the walk. Climb along trail 22/23, keeping right toward Grimondet. The trail is surrounded by woods and climbs gently for about 1.7 km, rising by only 50 meters, before becoming slightly steeper but never demanding. The forest continues to accompany the itinerary on the right side, while on the left side, a wide alpine pasture opens up where it is easy to spot numerous grazing cows.

After nearly an hour of walking, you reach the stables of Alpe Liautaysaz, the crossroads of trails 22B and 23B. At this point along the route, a small table and a fountain are available for hikers, perfect for a refreshing break. Keeping left along trail 22B, climb further until reaching the Alpe Grimondet alpine pasture. From there, the view opens up to the surrounding mountains and the city of Aosta.

400 meters further on, the itinerary leads past a group of now-abandoned stables along a final stretch of gentle uphill climbing to the departure station of the Grimod chairlift. Keeping left at the chairlift, the descent begins—after 5 km of uphill climbing which, as mentioned, is never too demanding—starting gently then becoming increasingly fast, crossing woods alternating with more open spaces from where you can admire Pila from above. Along the descent, you will also encounter the various entrances to the MTB trails, for XC, DH, and flow alike. A final section crosses through the woods to then arrive at the Gorraz parking lot, less than two hours from the start. The complete itinerary is just over 7 km long.

We recommend enjoying this itinerary with the support of experienced local guides, who can enrich your visit with stories, practical information, and fascinating insights that will make your experience truly unforgettable. For information and bookings:
