Description: Starting right from the shores of Lake Chamolé, head down toward Pila following the well-marked path, which brings you to the top station of the Chamolé chairlift in about 15 minutes. Along this section, you’ll find a few benches—ideal for hikers returning from longer treks who want to take a quick break.
Once you reach the chairlift, keep left toward the refuge and continue along the dirt road (which transforms into a ski run during the winter season), marked as trail 22. The path is wide and comfortable, with gentle slopes throughout. A 30-minute walk will guide you past Lake La Nouva and the nearby alpine pastures, eventually leading to the old, disused golf course. Stunning views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks accompany you along the entire route.
After passing the golf course, the road is flanked by beautiful woodlands that escort you all the way to the Gorraz parking lot. Here, you can enjoy a final stop on the benches surrounding the small water fountain before tackling the last short stretch back to the center of Pila.
The 500-meter elevation change is entirely downhill. The hike covers a total distance of about 6.5 km and takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.
