After an intense year of work, starting from December 14, the public will be able to experience for the first time the second section of the new 10-seater cable car Pila – Couis 1, a project that marks the beginning of a new era for Pila.
A panoramic journey over peaks exceeding 4,000 meters.
The section that will open tomorrow is the one from Couis 1 to Platta de Grevon: an intervention replacing the two-seater chairlift from the 1980s, offering a fast and comfortable connection, eliminating waiting times, and improving the accessibility of the ski area.
Upon arrival, the new skiweg slope will connect the two sides of the mountain, giving resort visitors more time to dedicate to skiing.
In just 4 minutes and 30 seconds, the new cable car will transport skiers, snowboarders, and mountain enthusiasts to an altitude of 2,700 meters. During the journey, the cabins will offer a unique experience in Europe: a spectacular view of peaks exceeding 4,000 meters along the entire Alpine arc.
Among the peaks visible are Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Grivola, and Gran Paradiso. Travelers can enjoy spotting them while also marveling at a breathtaking view of Aosta, the “Rome of the Alps.”
This initial partial opening of the new facility (the second phase will be completed in 2025) represents a fundamental step in an ambitious project. The objective is twofold: on one hand, to improve the experience for travelers and mountain enthusiasts; on the other hand, to stimulate the economic growth of the territory and community. The project aims to create new job opportunities, strengthen local businesses, and boost tourism.
The Couis 1 cable car is just the beginning of this ambitious transformation, destined to revolutionize the experience on the snow and beyond. By December 2025, the entire Pila-Couis infrastructure will be completed, allowing skiers and visitors to reach an altitude of 2,700 meters in just 30 minutes starting from Aosta.
A unique emotion: in just 30 minutes by cable car from Aosta, one of the most extraordinary views imaginable awaits.
