We are proud to host, together with the Municipalities of Aosta and Gressan, the 14th stage of the Giro d’Italia. All of Pila is preparing to dress in pink to welcome the legend of cycling: for this day of celebration, the cableway link Aosta-Pila-Stella from 9 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. will have an extraordinary opening. This is a unique opportunity to experience the arrival of the champions suspended at 2,723 meters, celebrating the finish of both the Giro and the E-Giro in the heart of Pila.
On May 23rd, the champions will compete in a spectacular trial starting from Aosta and concluding right here in Pila. It will be 133 kilometers of pure adrenaline characterized by significant elevation gain: a true Alpine “tappone” (queen stage) consisting of an uninterrupted sequence of climbs and descents, with almost no room to breathe.
To celebrate the 14th stage of the Corsa Rosa, special opening hours and dedicated services will be available to ensure the best experience for all spectators along the route:
Aosta–Pila Gondola: Running from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Pila–Stella Gondola: Running from 09:30 am to 7:00 pm.
Enjoy the race while tasting local dishes or grabbing a quick bite at:
Sei Pila Restaurant
Les Fleurs Restaurant
Panoramic Bistrot Stella di Pila: Open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm serving drinks, snacks, and sandwiches (located at the top station of the Pila–Stella gondola).
The route will put the athletes to the test from the very first kilometers with the long climb of Saint-Barthélémy, followed by a wide and fast descent of nearly 20 km. After a brief passage near Aosta, the riders will climb the Valpelline up to Doues, before facing Lin Noi and Verrogne in rapid succession, separated by a very short descent. Once back in the valley, the final ascent will begin from the Gressan side, leading into the heart of Pila village. This offers fans and enthusiasts the chance to witness the riders’ feat within a panoramic context unique in all of Europe.
The final kilometers of the stage will be decisive, with gradients constantly around 9% and peaks reaching 11% just 3 km from the finish line. The grueling effort will end with a final 100-meter straight on asphalt, still uphill, which will crown the winner right at the village arrival. Pila is ready to transform into the official finish line to welcome the champions and the great cycling public, ensuring an immersive experience in the heart of the action.
